I feel for you, having lost a number of very special cats over the years. I once acquired a Norwegian forest mix, left behind from a neglectful owner who packed up and left without him. Amazing cat- smart, friendly, very handsome. HUGE cat, probably over 20 pounds, but a gentle giant.
Dying of feline leukemia maybe 6 months after we found him, we took him to get the shot, and I cried like a baby. I still think about him and get choked up. He made THAT MUCH of an impact on me.

NOT that yours is dying yet-don't read me wrong!
